Marcelino: "Scoring early helped us to be calmer and play our own way"

Marcelino García Toral reacted to his side's impressive derby win against Levante UD on Sunday night in his post-match media debrief, and was happy with both the way VCF played and how they were able to put away their chances.

The performance
"We played a very good game, both with the ball and without it. We were very precise. Scoring early also helped us to be calmer and play our own way."

Guedes
"Guedes had possibly his best game of the season. He'd already been doing well in recent games. Whenever an attacking player scores goals, it boosts their confidence. We are very satisfied for him. With such a demanding run of games, we have to share out the minutes, and there are versatile players like Cheryshev and Wass who help us with that. We always have to evaluate what to do at every moment. We're here to take decisions and we believe in all of our players."

Mina
"We're very happy for Santi, and these two goals are going to give him even greater confidence. Knowing that we have to win every game, we have to look for solutions in order to avoid injuries. At this stage of the season, our players have played 11 more games than last year."

The 18 remaining points
"I'm convinced that if we are able to take the 18 points that are still in play, then we will finish fourth -but it's going to be difficult. We have a game against Villarreal on Thursday and then we'll think about the league game against Betis. Of the last 20 games, we've lost one. These players deserve the affection, respect and -above all- support of the fans. Their support will be very important this month."
